Calvin Klein has closed out New York Fashion Week with the kind of show that reminds people why the brand’s name became shorthand for American sex appeal. Creative Director Veronica Leoni presented her Spring 2027 collection inside Manhattan’s Terminal Warehouse, where models moved through the raw 1891 industrial hall between three floor sculptures by minimalist land artist Walter De Maria, to a soundtrack produced by Kid Harpoon featuring Laurie Anderson and Solange.
The staging matched Leoni’s design philosophy, which she describes as a discipline of removal: strip everything back until only the body and the cut remain. The mood was sleek, disciplined and sensual, with silhouettes elongated, narrowed or cinched to emphasize structure and movement.
The wardrobe was built on foundations – coats, shirts, trousers, pencil skirts and slips – reworked with crisp tailoring and bias cuts that let precise pieces move like fluid ones. Evening dresses emerged from the DNA of slip dresses and t-shirts, while extra-fine silk knits and color-blocked baseball shirts carried Calvin Klein’s American sportswear heritage into sharper territory. A slim three-button suit was cut with the ease of a t-shirt, and a broader-shouldered jacket was designed for effortless layering.
True to the house codes, sensuality ran just beneath the surface. Denim, leather and laser-cut suede added texture, and delicate flashes of underwear-as-outerwear reinforced the label’s signature minimal eroticism – less skin for shock, more precision for desire.
The palette opened in disciplined whites and blacks before detonating into scarlet, bright yellow, royal blue, cherry and citron. One check pattern was lifted from the wardrobe of painter Georgia O’Keeffe, a subtle nod to another American master of restraint. Accessories stayed sculptural and purposeful: metal headbands, pointed scarves, enlarged bags in sleek or slouchy forms, and a new triangular, origami-like bag shape.
With New York wrapped, the fashion caravan now rolls on to London, Milan and Paris for the rest of the spring 2027 season – but Leoni’s Terminal Warehouse outing set a high bar: proof that minimalism, done with discipline, can still turn up the heat.
