Renée Good’s family has filed a federal lawsuit against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials following a fatal shooting during a detention operation. The complaint alleges excessive force and violations of civil rights under color of law.
The incident occurred during what ICE officials describe as a routine apprehension at a processing facility in Texas. According to court documents, Renée Good, a 28-year-old mother of two, was shot and killed after allegedly resisting arrest.
The family’s attorney, Marcus Chen of the ACLU, argues that the officers used disproportionate force for a non-violent situation. The lawsuit seeks injunctive relief limiting ICE’s use of force protocols and monetary damages for the family.
ICE has not commented on the pending litigation but has previously stated that use-of-force incidents are subject to internal review and criminal investigation.
